Q: So, you're on maternity leave?
A: I am. Let's take it back to 2020...
It was the second day of quarantine and I found out I was pregnant.  Due to the nature of the pandemic, our business was booming like never before. People were turning to Olives & Grace as a way to feel close to their loved ones, and our e-comm business skyrocketed. This was incredibly good news for us as a small business, it was a dream come true actually. But it meant that I needed to push my body and mind harder than ever before. I was lifting, packing, and working 10-12 hours a day throughout my pregnancy, unsure of how or when to pause and pull back.  Luckily my son Niko was born in November 2020 healthy and loved beyond measure. A lot of lessons were learned, should I have the chance to do it all differently. About a year later I found out I was pregnant again (!).  I knew this time I had to experience pregnancy and early motherhood without the physical and logistical demands of running an increasingly busy retail business. It's not quite easy or simple for me to put into words just yet, but my innate desire to prioritize my family during this time is very real.  My husband, Tom, and two sons, Niko and Ollie, are my greatest gift. Taking a full maternity leave to welcome my boys into this world is one of the greatest honors of my life, (and certainly one of the benefits of being my own boss). If you find yourself seeking a hype-woman to help you advocate for your own maternity/paternity leave please
